Weathered fishing pier at Paradise Cove reaching into kelp-green water at last light

Malibu · 35 min from the Conejo Valley

Paradise Cove

A wide cove east of Point Dume, a short pier, and a beach the public still owns below the high-tide line.

Best for

A long walk, a swim on a small day, tidepools to the west

  • The sand below mean high tide is public. The café, restrooms, and lot are not. Walk down from PCH if you do not want to pay for parking.
  • Walk west toward the point for the pools. High water cuts the rocks off — go on a falling tide.
  • The pier is for looking, not a harbor. No dogs. The cove photographs like a movie because it has been in several.

How to arrive · Kanan to PCH, then Paradise Cove Road at 28128 Pacific Coast Highway. Or park on PCH and walk the hill down.

Often seen

  • Giant kelp
  • Brown pelican
